Student Veterans of America is proud to partner with PNC Bank to award a $10,000 scholarship to a student veteran that defines “Serving With Integrity.” This scholarship will not only address the workforce needs of the bank, but it will also help remove some of the financial barriers that student veterans face on their path to postsecondary success. SVA thanks the PNC Foundation for their support and partnership. The application period will open on February 21, 2013 and will close at 11:59pm EST on April 30, 2013.
While a postsecondary degree or credential has become indispensable for entry into professional careers and the middle class, the cost of college continues to increase. When coupled with a tightening credit market and fewer student loans, many veterans do not have the financial means to pursue an education that will launch their civilian career. By leveraging the commitment and resources of PNC Bank, SVA is excited to provide this scholarship to student veterans as a means of assisting them on their path to a postsecondary degree or credential.
In addition, because citizens with higher levels of education volunteer and play a more active role in their communities, PNC’s investment in education will benefit the affected students and also enrich the communities that they share with PNC. This scholarship program will not only build a diverse talent pool of candidates that can meet the emerging workforce demands of PNC Bank, but it will also ensure that student veterans can achieve their goal of earning a college education.
